ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY
Career
JEAN CLAUDE MARIGNALE was born in Guadeloupe.
As a teenager, left the Antilles for Paris, where he hoped
to complete his studies and commit himself entirely
to his passion for... football,
so as to start a professional footballer’s career.
However, fate had something else in mind for him …
At Sunday meetings with his friends at Bataclan (the cult dance temple
for the whole generation of the 1980s), in the course of hot show-offs
he discovered dance.
Driven by his love for this Art, Jean decided to refine his skills
under the supervision of the greatest masters in Paris and New York.
Overwhelmed with curiosity, he accommodated a variety of techniques:
classical, jazz, modern jazz, afro jazz, percussion instruments,
Latin jazz, salsa, modern, hip hop, break dance, street dance,
jazz rock… which forever marked his dance ABC...
In 1995, Jean established his own company named the „ART OF JAZZ”,
with which he staged more than a dozen performances.
In 2002, wishing to enrich his artistic expression, Jean changed
his Company’s name from the „Art of Jazz”
to the „TOUT EN DANSE” Association, comprised
of three dance companies:
- Jean Claude MARIGNALE Company (jazz, modern jazz)
- Sals’n’Jazz Company (salsa and jazz)
- 2Zacorps Company (afro jazz, hip hop, break dance, street dance…)
From 1984 Jean started teaching dance. He set out
at small clubs in Paris and its suburbs by teaching Jazz
and Hip-Hop (smurf and break).
Jean took lessons in jazz and classical dance from the best teachers
in Paris. For many years refined his skills in modern dance
and African dance at Alvin Ailey School in New York
and at Broadway Dance Center.
Such comprehensive education provided a fertile ground
for Jean’s creativity to flourish. His production is characterised
by the love
for novelties and combinations of the various forms of artistic expression.
Jean’s performances are astounding for their versatility guided
by his creative passion, which explains the name
of the association he has established: „TOUT EN DANSE”.
DANCER - TEACHER - CHOREOGRAPHER ( DTC )
According to Jean,
this is the logical order for a passionate dancer to follow.
