EDUCATION

He has taken lessons in jazz and classical dance from the best teachers
in Paris. For many years he has been improving modern jazz
and african dance skills at Alvin Ailey School in New York and
at Broadway Dance Center.
His comprehensive education makes his creative invention flourish.

Self-taught dancer at the start, made his first appearances
as a street dancer. Initially tried his hand at dancing with his friends
in the corridor of his block of flats, then at the cult dance temple
of the 1980s - Bataclan - in Paris, where he met many dancers
who are active to date, especially his friends
from the ”Jeu de Jambes” Group, and his companion Fredy Eugène.

To refine his technique and knowledge, studied jazz in Paris
under the supervision of such teachers as Rheda, Steve Davis,
or Frank Hatchett in New York... Continued to study Jazz
and Modern Jazz at Alvin Ailey School. A couple of courses gave him
an opportunity to acquaint himself with classical technique.
Jean engaged in street dance, now known as urban dance;
danced Jazz-rock, Street Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Break Dance.

Between 1998-1999, studied at the State Dance Centre (CND)
in Paris and Lyon:
- dance movements analysis (pedagogic techniques)
- Faldenkreiss technique:
- functional anatomy dance techniques and techniques of teaching
- dance to children
- dance movement arrangements
- pedagogy and choreography
- studies in analysis of movement in dance projects

Jazz Teacher’s diploma issued by the Ministry of Culture (September 93).

Other:
The skill of playing Antillean drums (Gwo-ka), salsa, afro jazz,
jazz tonic (own photographs of fitness exercises combining
LIA and hi-low fitness techniques with rudiments of jazz and salsa,
conducted since 1993 at various clubs, acrobatics).
